What changes is the plan: the hormonal driver continues after the course finishes, so expect more sessions than average and ongoing maintenance rather than a course that simply ends. We would rather set that expectation at the start.

Partly, and it depends what the shadow is. If it is dark hair showing through the skin, removing the hair removes the shadow. If it is pigmentation in the skin itself — which is common, and often worse after years of waxing — that is a separate problem needing a different treatment.
